Do Not Be Afraid! Sunday Wisdom

Happy Father’s Day! I am blessed that my Dad is still in my life and living about 25 minutes from me. The gospel for today is perfect for Father’s Day because who is better than our earthly Father and our heavenly Father at calming all our fears! It is both our earthly and heavenly Father who calms our anxieties.

Sometimes the storms of life can be overwhelming, but that is precisely when we need to trust in our Lord and Savior because He is always in the boat with us. He is always watching over us.

When we rely on our own strength or understanding to do things our way, we can only do so much. But Jesus’ power is limitless. Sure sometimes things don’t work out easily or ever, for what we consider to be the best, but that does not mean that Jesus has abandoned us. He always cares about us and is always in the boat with us, no matter how rough the storm.

Sometimes Jesus does calm the storms in our lives and other times He calms us, giving us the strength to bear our burdens and carry our crosses. When we trust and when we have faith, then we are filled with a calming peace, even in the toughest of times. Father in heaven, thank you for sending your Only Begotten Son to us.

Jesus I trust in you!

This month’s projects feature stars. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I have seen the Stitched Star Dies used to create a ton of Christmas cards, so I thought it would be fun to use a red, white and blue motif and create two very easy 4th of July cards! Really these dies are great for any occasion. After all we can never have too many stars in our lives. Right?

True Love is Designer Series Paper

Creating cards with the True Love black and white paper pack is not only easy but quick. This card came together in a matter of minutes. The only part that took a bit of time was the coloring of the flowers. Even that can be quick when using the Stampin’ Blend markers.

I love these alcohol markers because the combo pack of light and dark makes blending a breeze. Check out the variety of colors in the annual catalog on pages 122-123.

Supplies

  • Basic Black Cardstock- 5½ x 8½, 3-1/8 x 5-5/8,1½ x 2½,
  • Basic White Cardstock- 4 x 5¼, 3 ¼ x 4 ¾, 1½ x 2½,
  • True Love Designer Series Paper- flowers (cut with paper snips), 3 x 4½ (dotted), 2 x 5¼
  • Stampin’ Blend Marker Combo- Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight
  • Paper Snips
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Stampin’ Seal Adhesive or Liquid Glue

Directions

  • Score Basic Black cardstock in landscape position at 4¼. Fold & burnish.
  • Attach 2 x 5¼ strip of True Love DSP to the left side of card front.
  • Layer the True Love dotted DSP panel to the Basic Black panel and then layer to the 3¼ x 4¾ Basic White panel.  Layer all to the card front as shown above.
  • Stamp greeting in Memento Black ink on white cardstock and crop using the Double Oval Punch.  I used the thank you from Beauty of Friendship, but you have a ton of options, so go crazy.
  • Crop a scallop oval in Basic Black using the Double Oval Punch.
  • Layer the greeting oval to the black oval and attach to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Color several flowers and leaves from the True Love DSP and use paper snips to fussy cut and attach to front of card.
  • Add 4 x 5¼ Basic White panel to the inside and decorate as desired.

There are a few different layers to this card, but it really does come together quickly and the pop of color created with the Stampin’ Blend markers is the perfect finish to an elegant card. This would make a great wedding or anniversary card. I hope you are inspired to create something beautiful.

Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time, be blessed, Renae

The Smallest of Seeds-Sunday Wisdom

The Kingdom of God exists for us all and everything makes a difference. The simple things we say or do can have a big influence on others.  It is like the saying I used to tell my kids, especially when they were in high school. “People might not remember your name, but they will always remember your kindness.”

The seeds of kindness sprout everywhere and no matter how small our deed, we can bring love and hope to our communities.  We can spread peace and justice and yes, we can make a difference.  So be that tiny mustard seed and allow yourself to grow. Let’s change the world one heart at a time.
