Hippest Hippo-Favorite Things Friday

Good morning my stamping friends! It is time for another Favorite Things Friday and what better way to celebrate today than with one of the adorable Hippos from the Hippest Hippo stamp set that you can earn for FREE by placing a $50 order through my online store. to shop. CLICK HERE

Today, I combined the hats from the Bewitching Bundle with the Hippest Hippos to create a fun Halloween card. I used the Pumpkin Pie paper from the Gingham Cottage Paper pack. To create the hat, I stamped two different hats and used my paper snips to create the mulit-layered design look.

Since I was trying to get the hippos eyes to peek through the hat, I need the brim of the had to be in a slightly lighter color than the polka a dots. I thin strips of Basic Black cardstock for the spiders to hang from. The hippo is stamped in Memento Black and cropped with the Hippo dies, although if you do no have the dies, you could fussy him out.

I highly recommend that you check out the die set for these little guys below because there are so many cute little dies that would coordinate with other stamp sets.

Last days for Sale-a-Bration!

We are in the final days of the Summer SALE-a-bration event. Only 8 days left! I created a simple, yet elegant Wedding card using the FREE Silver and Gold 6×6 paper pack and the Happiness Abounds stamp set. For this monochromatic card I used the Smoky Slate ink and cardstock.

I cut a 4 x 5 ¼ piece of the silver striped designer series paper and layered it to a smoky slate card base. I saved the strip that was left from my cut for the inside of my card. I created the second smaller panel of silver dotted paper by cutting the Smoky Slate to be  3 ¼ x 4 ¼ and the dotted paper at 3 x 4, layered them together and added them to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I stamped two roses with Smoky Slate ink and cut with coordinating dies. The greeting is stamped in Smoky Slate ink on a ¾ x 3 strip of Basic White CS.

I attached the leftover strip from my first cut and layered it to the inside of my card. My sentiment is from Nature’s Prints, but the inside sentiment from the Happiness Abounds stamp set would work perfectly as well. I really like how elegant this card turned out. Now all I need is a Wedding to go to and I will be all set.

How Strong Are You? Sunday Wisdom

In today’s gospel, Jesus refers to the strong who will be able to enter the narrow gate. How strong are you and how do we build up our strength? Jesus did not give us a routine exercise to follow, but he did give us the church. We must continue to exercise our trust in the Lord and have faith that we are given all we need, not always what we want, but what we need to grow in love.

We need God’s sanctifying grace to grow stronger spiritually, and to grow in holiness. We need to recognize that we are not alone. God is love and he is not going anywhere, regardless of how many times we turn our backs on Him. He is not going to go love some and not others. He does not change His mind about loving us because we made a bad choice.

This is great news for us and brings us hope. God loves the good and the bad. His sun shines on everyone and so we continue to build up our strength by loving others and growing in our relationship through prayer. When we trust that God gives us all that we need, we grow in humility and recognize our need for His mercy. As we open our hearts we can then recognize that God has many more graces waiting for us; graces that will continue to build up our strength.

So go ahead, flex those trust muscles and begin building up strength to enter that narrow gate. Jesus, have mercy on me. Jesus, I trust in you. God Bless you all!

Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time, be blessed, Renae

Back To School-InKing Royal Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s August Blog Hop! Can you believe it’s already time for schools to start back up?! The return to school after summer vacation is a really big deal for students, teachers, school workers and the parents who are left home alone. To honor this big event, we have created projects with a back to school theme. We are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! Stamp and crop the crafting/school tools and color with coordinating Stampin’ Blend markers and add basket to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greetings are from Garden Birdhouses and Forever Fern stamp sets. Whether you are a student or a teacher, I hope you have a fabulous year.
