Come Sail Away
Yes, I know it is still winter, but sometimes in the midst of the cold I think of summer things, like swimming, fishing and sailing. I guess fishing could technically be a winter sport if one likes ice fishing! Today I thought it would be nice to create a card for the special men in our lives.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I have a hard time coming up with masculine cards. The Sailing Home set in the annual catalog is perfect for a masculine birthday, graduation, anniversary or just a simple thinking of you card.
- Begin with a Night of Navy card base 5 ½ x 8 ½. Score in landscape position at 4 ¼”.
- Using the Stampin’ cut and emboss machine run a 4 x 5 ¼” piece of Crumb Cake cardstock through with the Subtle 3-D embossing folder.
- Cut a 2 ½ x 2 ½” piece of Night of Navy cardstock and a smaller 2 ¼ x 2 ¼” square of Basic White cardstock. Stamp the sailboat and the sentiment in Night of Navy ink on the white square and then stamp the compass in Crumb Cake ink.
- Layer the white onto the Night of Navy square and attach to the dry embossed Crumb Cake panel.
- Wrap some Night of Navy bakers twine around the lower portion of the Crumb Cake layer and attach to the Night of Navy card base.
- Cut a 4 x 5 ¼” piece of Basic White for the inside and stamp the anchor in Crumb Cake ink and attach to the inside of the card.
I hope this card will inspire you to create something special for the men in your lives. I love this set and have used it several times to create a birthday card for my son. He is not much into sailing, but at least he enjoy my creations.
