Happy Birthday Dad-A Good Man!

Today is my Dad’s birthday so I thought I would share this fun card that I made for him with you. Happy Birthday Dad! He got a different card over the weekend, a fun fold card and some sweet treats, but whoever said you should just get one birthday card!

My card features the A Good Man set and all of the sayings in this set are so appropriate for my Dad, like I Grew up Loved, Being a good Dad starts with being a good man, and You do a great job of being a great guy, but I like this one from the Best Year stamp set better.

If you knew my Dad then you would know that he is a holy man and that he does everything for my Mom, really I am not sure what she would do without him. He is kind of a saint in my eyes. The years have been good to him and I have seen him grow in the love he has for his family and in patience for all of us, so there is still hope for me yet! Happy Birthday Dad!

  • Begin with a Gray Granite card base 5½ x 8½. Score in landscape position at 4¼”.
  • Using the Stampin Cut and Emboss machine cut a Night of Navy oval from the Layering Oval Dies and a Gray Granite oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies.
  • Stamp the image from A Good Man and color with Stampin’ Blends.  I used Night of Navy, Garden Green, Merry Merlot and Crumb Cake. I stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out with my paper snips for a more 3-D look. I stamped the image of on the Gray Granite oval and then layered my cut out version on top.
  • Layer the Gray Granite oval to the Night of Navy and pop up on the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Before laying the ovals on the card front, cut a 3 x 4¼” piece of Designer Series paper from the In Good Times paper pack and adhere to the left side of the card.
  • For the greeting cut 2 pieces of Gray Granite, 1¼ x 2 and 1½ x 2¼”. Using the Stamparatus, stamp the greeting from Best Year on the smaller Gray Granite rectangle with Night of Navy ink.
  • Cut a 1 3/8 x 2 1/8” rectangle from Night of Navy cardstock and layer all together.  Adhere the layered greeting to the left side of the card.  Lastly add the previously created layered oval image.

The greetings on the inside of my card are from two different sets. Happy Birthdays is from Peaceful Moments and is in the annual catalog. You’re One in a Million is from the NEW Quite Curvy set in the JJ2021 Spring mini catalog. I stamped both greetings directly to the card using Night of Navy ink.

I hope you enjoyed this card, my Dad truly is one in a MILLION and I hope his day is filled with blessings of love! Feel free to leave a comment!

The Baptism of Our Lord! Sunday Wisdom

“You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” ~Mark 1:7-11

Even Jesus needed to hear words of affirmation from his father. These were not empty words, they were loving and encouraging words that Jesus was giving glory to his father through his ministry. Regardless of our ministry, we all need to hear loving and kind words of encouragement . They keep us going, right?

I am not talking about empty compliments, but real and genuine words of affirmation. This is not always easy because we are busy people and sometimes the busy parts of our lives keep us from seeing opportunities to bless those in our presence. But here is some Good news. Our Heavenly Father is never too busy for us and we can stay connected to Him through daily prayer. We don’t even have to be particularly good at it, we just have to do it!

I know there are people in our lives who need encouragement. So let’s notice those around us and tell them how much they are appreciated! It might be the daily meal that is prepared for us, or a single random act of kindness, it could be someone’s generous spirit, or it could be that someone in our life just needs to know they are loved.

Every time we shine a light on the people of God’s kingdom, God blesses us with his loving grace and fills us up. So let God tell you that he loves you today and then go out and do the same thing for others.

To A Wild Rose-Feeling Blessed!

Some days one just feels more blessed than other. While it was a crazy and different Christmas Season, I feel so blessed that both of my children could come home for the holidays. Game nights are always a hoot at our house! Throw in a little Moscow Mules (them) and some Chardonnay (me) and things really become interesting.

At any rate I am blessed and I know it so todays card is just an expression of my gratitude and it features the To A Wild Rose stamp set on page 15 of the Annual Catalog. It is Sale-A-Bration time, so if you add this set and the coordinating dies, you can choose a FREE set or paper pack from the Sale-A-Brations catalog.

The To a Wild Rose stamp set is two-step stamp which basically means the stamps coordinate and build on the detail of the image. Using the Stamparatus is very helpful with working with two-step images.

  • Begin with a Basic White card base 5 ½ x 8 ½. Score in landscape position at 4 ¼”.
  • Using the Stampin Cut and Emboss machine dry emboss a 4 x 5¼” piece of Cherry Cobbler with the Subtle embossing folder.
  • On a 3 ½ x 4 ¾ piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp Blessed in Memento Ink near the lower right corner.
  • On a scrap piece of white cardstock stamp the outline image of the Rose in Memento Black ink. Next stamp the totally solid rose image in Blushing Bride ink and finally stamp the detailed rose image in Cherry Cobbler ink.
  • Using the Wild Rose dies, cut out the Rose. Put three Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the Rose, but do not peel off the adhesive.
  • Stamp the leaves outline stamp in Memento Black ink on the card, using the Rose as a guide.  Stamp the solid green image of the leaves in Mossy Meadow ink.
  • Peel off the Stampin’ Dimensional adhesive and position over the leaves.
  • Add three Rhinestones around on the white cardstock.

Comfort and Hope-Sympathy

The need for a sympathy card is always a somber occasion and all the more reason why our hand-made cards are so important in the lives of others. I had the need for such a card just last week and while it is always hard to say good-bye to a loved one, there is also hope that all is well in the kingdom of heaven.

Perhaps you too have had the need to send a sympathy card recently or maybe you received one and it brought you comfort and hope. That is precisely why I think it is so important for us all to reach out to one another in times of need.

My card today was created using the Comfort and Hope set on page 88 in the Annual Catalog (AC). I love the faux gem look and you can create gems in any color! How fantastic is that?

  • Begin with a Misty Moonlight card base 5 ½ x 8 ½. Score in landscape position at 4 ¼”.
  • On a 4 x 5¼” piece of white cardstock, stamp the rings stamp in Old Olive ink near the bottom right corner.
  • In Misty Moonlight ink add some faux gems using the stamp of three gems on the top and bottom of the Old Olive rings.
  • Punch out a strip of Misty Moonlight cardstock with the Lovely Label pick a punch.  Punch on both ends.
  • Stamp the greeting in Misty Moonlight ink on a scrap of white cardstock and cut it out using the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine and the Stitched rectangle dies and adhere to the Misty Moonlight strip.
  • Stamp the greeting in Misty Moonlight ink on a 4 x 5 ¼” piece of white cardstock and attach to the inside of the Misty Moonlight card base.

I hope you like this simple, but unfortunately necessary card. Stop back tomorrow for some more crafting fun!

And thank you so much for shopping with me! Oh and if your purchase is less than $150 I would love it if you could use the current host code! Host Code: SM7SJPZZ

My Christmas decorations are still up, but unfortunately I no longer have a kitty sleeping under the tree. While I do miss my furry friend, I am enjoying a fur free house! This cute little kitty would look good under anyone’s tree and also in that comfortable corner of any room in the house.

My card features the Pampered Pets Bundle, the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper and the Best Plaid Builder Die. The designer series paper in this pack can be used to embellish any card or you can cut out the cute pets using the dies from the bundle, just as I did on my card front today.

Add these awesome bundles to your crafting supplies and earn some FREE stamp sets, after all it is SALE-A-BRATION time! Don’t forget to apply the Host code: SM7SJPZZ

For the inside cut a 4 x 5 ½” layer of White cardstock and using the paw dies from the bundle, run the white cardstock through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine. Stamp the sentiment from Positive Thoughts in Basic Gray ink.

Celebrate the Love and Mercy of Our Lord-Sunday Wisdom

We celebrated Christmas, the birth of our Lord just a week ago and now we enter into a New Year, with the hope of the Magi.  If we look closely we will find the light of our Savior and if we allow ourselves to enter into the light we just may find more peace and calm.

When we work together, pray together, love one another and forgive each other, the light of Christ enters us and is dispelled out into the darkness.  One light can make a difference.  One candle can light our way, but the Lord asks us to unite with one another regardless of our race, religion or financial status to bring that light to all.  He wants us to put aside our selfishness and our prideful attitudes to shine just a bit more brightly.

So join with the Magi and ask the Holy Spirit to keep purifying us as we strive to bring the light of love into our world.  When we all unite as one, our problems seem more manageable and our hearts are lifted because we know we do not have to go it alone.  The Lord is here for all of us and his Mercy is endless.  Be filled this day and this year with hope so that we can fill the world with His glory.

Lovely You for 2021

Sometimes we just need to make and send a card for no reason at all. I send a lot of cards to people in my parish community who have not been able to get out much and have heard from a lot of them how our cards bring joy to their day.

  • Begin with a Whisper White card base 5½ x 8½”. Score in landscape position at 4¼”.
  • Layer a 4 x 5 ¼” piece of Misty Moonlight on the card front.
  • Cut a 3 7/8 x 5 1/8” piece of Just Jade cardstock and using the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine dry emboss with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder and layer on top of the Misty Moonlight panel.
  • Cut a 2 ½ x 5 1/8” of Whisper White cardstock and tear along one side. Randomly stamp the leaf stamp in Just Jade ink along the torn edge. Add Bumblebee and Misty Moonlight flowers. Layer the Whisper White on the Just Jade cardstock.
  • Using the NEW Double Oval punch, punch out a Misty Moonlight scalloped oval.
  • Next punch out a small white oval and stamp the greeting in Misty Moonlight ink. Layer on the Misty Moonlight scalloped oval and adhere to card using some Stampin’ Dimensionals.
