An Evening Evergreen Simply Succulent Thanks!

My daughter came home for a Father’s Day visit and since she is a first grade school teacher, she did not have to rush home so we decide to play in my craft room. Fun right? She created a variety of amazing cards, most of them using retired sets, but she also created this one and I am happy to share it with you.

It is a very simple design, but I love the elegance of the Evening Evergreen and the Very Vanilla cardstock. This background die would also look amazing in some foil sheets and or even some glitter paper. I hope you have fun creating! We certainly did!

Cutting Measurements

All Measurement=inches  CS=Cardstock DSP=Designer Series Paper  Landscape Position=Long side   Portrait Position=short side

Supplies

  • Evening Evergreen Cardstock- 5½ x 8½ card base (score at 4¼).
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock-4¼ x 6, 2½ x 4¼ (greeting), 4 x 5¼ (inside)
  • Simply Succulent Stamp Set
  • Potted Succulent Dies
  • Evening Evergreen Ink
  • Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine
  • Multi-purpose Liquid Glue
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals

Directions

  • Score Evening Evergreen cardstock in landscape position at 4¼.  Fold & burnish to create card..
  • Use the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine to crop a Very Vanilla frame for the Potted Succulent dies and attach to the card front with liquid glue or use an adhesive sheet.
  • To use the adhesive sheet apply it to the Very Vanilla cardstock before cropping the frame. Once you have cut out the frame, remove the adhesive backing and add to the card front.
  • Stamp greeting in Evening Evergreen ink on some Very Vanilla cardstock and crop it out with frame from the Potted Succulent dies. Attach to card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Attach a 4 x 5¼ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to the inside and decorate as desired.

Hello-You’re a Peach!

Todays card features the You’re A Peach Designer Series paper pack and I am excited to share that it is on sale! So now is the time to stock up on your favorites!

I started my card with a Basic White card base and cut a strip of You’re a Peach Designer Series Paper that measures 2¾  x 12. I used the second largest Stitched so Sweetly dies to cut out the peach side of the paper and the largest to cut out a panel of Calypso Coral.

I trimmed the remaining strip to measure 5½ and flipped it over so the blue side was showing and layered it on the left side of the card front. I then layered the peach rectangles to the card front.

I again used the Stitched So Sweetly dies and cropped the second smallest using Basic White cardstock, stamped the greeting on it in Calypso Coral ink and attached it to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Cutting Measurements

A Forever Favorite-Forever Fern!

I know there are so many new sets to choose from and yet, I just love, love, love the look of our Forever Fern set and dies. For my card today I did not use any of the dies from the bundle, but I did use the brick and mortar embossing folder.

I also did a bit of masking with the berries and the leaves. It was not hard and I love how it turned out. The “Thanks” is from the Artistically Inked set. Stamping directly on an embossed surface can be tricky so I used my paper snips to fussy cut the greeting and attached it to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Supplies

  • Forever Fern Set
  • Blackberry Bliss Cardstock: 5½ x 8½ card base (score at 4¼)
  • Blackberry Bliss Ink
  • Shaded Spruce Ink
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4¼  x 5½-(outside), 4 x 5¼ (inside), scrap for greeting
  • Brick and Mortar Embossing Folder
  • Paper Snips
  • Stampin’ Seal Adhesive/Liquid Glue

Directions

  • Score Blackberry Bliss cardstock in landscape position at 4¼.  Fold & burnish to create card.
  • Stamp berries in Blackberry Bliss and the ferns in Shaded Spruce on white panel, masking as needed.
  • Use the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine to dry emboss Basic White panel with the Brick and Mortar embossing folder and attach to left side of card front.
  • Stamp greeting on white scrap and use paper snips to fussy cut.
  • Attach to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Attach white panel to inside and decorate as desired.

What’s Your Stumbling Block?-Sunday Wisdom

Today the gospel reading tells the story of how the people in His hometown were at a crossroad and their lack of faith became their biggest stumbling block. But not everyone rejected Jesus, he was able to heal. What is one person’s stumbling block can be a stepping stone for another. Thank goodness the Lord is patient with us.

Apparently it was hard for them to believe that a simple son of a carpenter could be so filled with wisdom and power. This must have caused Jesus some internal suffering, after all everyone wants to be accepted in their hometown, and Jesus was amazed at their lack of faith. Jesus could not exercise His power of healing because of the negativity and lack of faith.

Every day we face a variety of situations where we find ourselves at a crossroad to be an imitation of Christ or not. It is good to ask the Holy Spirit to give us the strength and the courage to get out of the way and let the Lord heal us.

I am thankful that Jesus is merciful and compassionate as He continues to knock at the door or our hearts. This image is depicted in a famous painting of the Good Shepherd knocking on a door without a latch. The door of our heart can only be opened from the inside. God does not force anything on us and the decision to open the door and surrender our heart to Him is ours.

So let us be filled with courage and open our hearts.

Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time, be blessed, Renae

Watercolors and Simply Succulent

The Simply Succulent bundle pairs beautifully with the watercolor technique. Todays card was created using watercolor pencils, the new in-color inks and the watercolor painters.

I started out stamping the large succulents in black using Stazon ink on some Thick Basic White Cardstock. The Stazon ink works best for the watercoloring while Memento Black works better with alcohol markers. The inks featured in todays sample include Soft Succulent, Pale Papaya, Just Jade, Mint Macaron, Fresh Freesia, Evening Evergreen, Pear Pizzazz and Cinnamon Cider inks.

When I watercolor, I like to use a small acrylic block as a color pallet. I stamp the smallest blocks in the ink pads and pull color from them using the water painters. When using the watercolor pencils I take the water painter directly to pencil tip.
