Stay Awake ~Sunday Wisdom

In today’s gospel the Lord is reminding us to stay awake and be prepared for the second coming, but really we should be awake and ready for whenever the Lord calls us home, which will be most likely before the second coming.

Trust is God’s mercy is crucial to our faith because unlike the apostles we cannot see Jesus in a human way. So faith, is trust in what cannot be seen. That does not mean we just sit around doing nothing while we wait. We must be active in our faith, attentive, and intentional in our prayer. God is going to do what he has promised and He will never leave us forsaken.

Do not be afraid, but stay awake in hopeful anticipation for the coming of our Lord. Have a blessed week!

Spotlight On Nature ~Five Minute Friday

I have another fun summertime five minute card for you today. I created a super simple card using the Spotlight on Nature bundle and some Summer Splash cardstock. I love this cardstock almost as much as the name. I don’t know why it just makes me happy. I hope this card will make you smile today.

I started with a white card, I know it is hard to see in the photo, but trust me you want to begin with a Basic White cardbase. I then added a panel of the Summer Splash. I ran it through the Stampin’ Cut n Emboss machine with one of the dies from Texture Notes. I love these dies. They just add a little pizzazz to each project.

I stamped the circle from Elements of Text in Smoky Slate ink on a panel of Basic White. I added the flower image from Spotlight on Nature w/Memento Black ink and colored the flowers with the Summer Splash alcohol markers. Remember if you don’t have these markers, you can use the regular ink pad and an aqua painter brush filled with alcohol. You don’ t need to color in the entire flower, just add a splash of color. I added a few dots w/Memento Black ink and cropped the image with one of the circles from the Spotlight on Nature dies. These are gorgeous circles that will enhance any card project. It totally encourage you to try them out.

I wanted a little more depth, so I added some Summer Splash color around the circle words with a blending brush and then attached my circle to my card front. You can use Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach if you want even more depth to your card. To finish off my card, I stamped the thinking of you from The Right Words w/Memento Black ink and then added a little bling.

I hope you enjoy today’s card creation and will check out the rectangle dies from Textured Notes and the circles from Spotlight on Nature. Happy Stamping!

Torn Window Technique ~ Weekly Wednesday #62

Happy Wednesday. Today I am sharing with you an older technique, but one that I think you will enjoy. Most of the videos I have watched from days gone, refer to this technique as the “Torn Window” technique. So hey, who am I to re-invent the wheel! It might look complicated, but it is quite easy, so I hope you will give it a try.

Summer Sunflowers ~Make It Monday #215

You are going to love, love, love, the new 3-D Sunflowers embossing folder. It has such beautiful detail. Use the embossed and de-bossed images to create beautiful cards. Check out today’s video with these techniques and have fun creating.

Here is a closer look at today’s cards!

There are so many things you can do with this embossing folder. I don’t know about you but I just love sunflowers, they just make me think of summer. This embossing folder made me think of my mom because she was not a sunflower fan. I am not sure why I guess she thought they were to big and messy. She liked geraniums, me not so much. What can I say we had opposite tastes when it came to flowers. Happy Stamping!

Be Persistent in Prayer ~ Sunday Wisdom

Today’s gospel reminds us not only that we need to pray to our heavenly Father, but also to be persistent in our wants, needs and desires. Jesus reminds us in today’s parable that prayer does make a difference. We may not get what we want, but prayer makes a difference because it often changes the way we look at things. When we thank God for the many gifts and blessings in our lives, it helps turn our attention out of ourselves to recognize the needs of others.

So many times when we are in a difficult position or perhaps dealing with someone difficult in our daily lives, prayer helps us see things from a new perspective and opens the door for forgiveness.

It is important to petition our heavenly Father out of love, not always expecting to get all that we ask for. Prayer is not to be a list of our requests, but through prayers we come to recognize God’s holiness and his rule over all things. Jesus reminds us that God always hears our prayers and while we may not get what we ask for, we will always get what we need. It is so important in our quest for holiness to be content and accept everything, even the hardships, as a gift from God. So let us turn to prayerful thanksgiving for the abundant graces in our lives and ask the Lord to bless those who do not yet know him.

Beautiful Butterflies ~ Fun Fact Friday

Have you ever been to the Butterfly House in St. Louis, Missouri? If not it is certainly a worthwhile adventure. The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House, a part of the Missouri Botanical Garden, is a popular attraction in St. Louis known for its lush, tropical conservatory filled with free-flying butterflies and diverse insect exhibits. It features a 8,000 square foot glass conservatory with nearly 2,000 butterflies from around 80 species. The facility also includes an insect zoo, classrooms, a theater, and a seasonal native butterfly garden. So next time you are in St. Louis, check it out because you just might see the butterfly in today’s card there. LOL

For today’s card I started with a Pretty Peacock card base. I cropped the butterfly from the bundle in both Very Vanilla and Pretty Peacock cardstock.
To the 3-3/4 x 5 piece of Very Vanilla CS, I used the round stamp from Elements of Text and stamped it in the middle w/Pretty Peacock ink. I used both splatter stamps and stamped some images in full color while other images I stamped off. I used a Blending Brush to add some Crumb Cake ink around the words and the edges of the panel. I stamped the greeting from Grateful Blessings w/Pretty Peacock ink and added it to the card front. Before adding the butterflies, I added some bling to the Very Vanilla butterfly. It is probably difficult to see, but I used liquid glue to add the Pretty Peacock butterfly and then attached the Very Vanilla butterfly only at the body, leaving the wings unattached.

I hope you enjoy creating this card and if you ever visit St. Louis, I strongly encourage you to check out the butterfly house at Botanical Gardens. If you love butterflies, you won’t regret it. Happy Stamping.

Until next time, be blessed, Renae
