As a kid living in Springfield, Illinois, I loved summers and my heart always skipped a beat whenever I heard the ice cream truck. Now Mom and Dad did not give us money every time, but when they did, it was such a treat. Now that the weather is getting warmer I thought if might be time for some ice cream.

Although the ice cream truck does not come around as often as it did when I was a kid, it does make an appearance in my neighborhood from time to time. I wonder if it still rolls around regularly in my old neighborhood in Illinois. It is hard to say because times are changing and kids just don’t go outside much any more.

You are Loved-Favorite Things Friday

Favorite Things Friday, Just Because Cards / April 19, 2024 / You are loved

It is so much fun to randomly bless someone with a handmade card and it is just one of my favorite things to do with all the cards I create for my blog. Is there someone in your life who might need a paper hug? It might be a close friend, a family member a neighbor or someone from your church that you don’t know very well.

When I receive a handmade card it always bring a smile to my face. So why not be that person who is committed to blessing others with a paper hug. After all, from time to time, we all need encouragement. The Perennial Postage set is the perfect set for blessing others and today I chose to focus on the You are loved beyond measure greeting. Who wouldn’t love getting that in the mail.

I started with a Calypso Coral card base and added a layer of Lost Lagoon. I had some left over scraps from the Artistically Inked pack of designer series paper so I cut those into 1-1/4 x 5″ strips and added them to my Lost Lagoon panel. I stamped my greeting with Lost Lagoon ink to bring out the color in my paper. Just add a piece of Basic White or Very Vanilla to the inside and your card is ready for those words of encouragement. Something Old & Something New

Just Because Cards, Thinking of You / April 16, 2024

Today I am sharing with you a card that I created using an old and a new stamp set. Planted Paradise is a set that was featured in the 2023-2024 annual catalog and will be carrying over to our next annual catalog. And the new set, Unbounded Love, will be featured for the first time in the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog coming May 1st.

I used Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive and Cajun Craze ink for the potted leaves. This set does not come with dies so I did use my Paper Snips to cut out the leaf accessories and the pot. I used our Lost Lagoon cardstock to create my card base and stamped the potted planters with Lost Lagoon ink.

The greetings from Unbounded Love are stamped with Memento Black ink. I already love this new stamp set and I think you will too. It not only has some wonderful greetings but some messages for the inside of our cards, yahoo! Although the Unbounded Love stamp set is part of a bundle with some cool frames and florals, my greetings today are stamped directly to the Basic White panel that I attached to the card front.

Here is another card creation from the retiring Inked & Tiled stamp set featured in the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog (AC). Many of the products in this catalog and the January – April 2024 mini catalog will be retiring at the end of April, click below for the Last Chance lists.

Beginning April 9th many of these products will be on sale, but supplies are limited and will only be available while supplies last. If there is something you really want to add to your crafting stash, I would recommend you get it now while it is still available. Happy Shopping!

I created a panel of designer series paper using the single flower from the Inked & Tiled stamp set. I cut a strip of Basic White CS and randomly stamped the single flower using Calypso Coral ink. The first stamp was with full ink and I then stamped a second time before re-inking to create a lighter look, aka second generation stamping.

The greeting is from the Courage and Faith stamp set and is stamped with Memento Black ink on a panel of Basic White. I used the Nested Essential Dies to crop the greeting and added it to the card front as shown. I hope this inspires you to create something beautiful to share today. Happy Stamping!

For my Botanical Layers card I began with an Old Olive card base. I stamped some of the leaves in Old Olive on another panel of Old Olive CS that measures 4 x 5 1/4. The Basic white panel is 3 x 4 and I again stamped some leaves with Old Olive ink.

The greeting is from Good Feelings (also retiring) and is stamped with Memento Black ink. I added a little color around the Basic White panel using some Old Olive ink and a Blending Brush. Have fun looking through all the retiring products and making your list, but remember, the Last Chance items are while supplies last. Happy Stamping and Happy Shopping!

Winter Snow Scene-Favorite Things Friday!

YAY it’s the weekend! Well at least for me because I don’t work on Fridays and that truly is one of my favorite things. Today I thought I would round out the week with one last card using our Beary Cute Bundle. Although I am not using those adorable polar bears today, I did create a winter scene the accent stamp for the trees.

My card base is Garden Green and I used our Garden Green ink for the trees and the greeting. But before I added my snow bank and trees I embossed a Basic White panel with the Snowflake Sky embossing folder featured in the Holiday Mini catalog.
