Taken, Blessed, Broken and Given-Sunday Wisdom

Get Well & Sympathy / June 6, 2021

Today we are reminded once again of the great gift Jesus has given us in the Eucharist. When Christians gather to receive the Eucharist, we see Christ in everyone and how we are who we are, but we also hope to be more. We want to prepare our hearts to receive Jesus so that we can become His hands and feet, His eyes and ears and yes, His Most Sacred Heart, so we can be Christ to others.

The Lord has given us all plenty of opportunities to re-unite our hearts and will with His. We are all called to experience God’s overwhelming love and mercy. Through His grace we are redeemed, worthy and loved.

Yes, we are broken, but as Henri Nouwen writes, ”the words ‘taken’, ‘blessed’, ‘broken’, and ‘given’ summarize our lives as Christians because we are all called to become bread for the world, bread that is taken, blessed, broken and given.”

May the Lord be with all of you this day and strengthen each of you, today and always.

Feel Better Soon-Back on Your Feet!

Recently a good friend moved from St. Louis to Utah. She has enjoying her new home with a mountain view, but sadly this past week had to have surgery. She was not feeling well and turns out she needed to have her appendix out.

Those of you who attend my Stamp Camp classes my know her and I knew you would want to know so you could send some healing hugs her way.

Todays card is the one I sent her in the mail! Perhaps you have a friend in need of a healing card.

Cutting Measurements

All Measurement=inches CS=Cardstock DSP=Designer Series Paper Landscape Position=Long side Portrait Position=short side

Supplies

Back on Your Feet Stamp Set
Soft Suede Cardstock
Basic White Cardstock
Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends
Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends
Soft Suede Ink

Directions

Score the Basic White cardstock in landscape position at 4¼. Fold & burnish.
Stamp the giraffe in Soft Suede ink on the white cardstock panel and color with Stampin’ Blends.
Layer the white panel to the Soft Suede cardstock and attach to card front.
Stamp the greetings inside using Soft Suede ink.

This is a fun card that is sure to make a bad day turn out better. The greetings are so clever. A card like this is guaranteed to make big and little kids smile. You have to admit these animals are pretty adorable.

Painted Poppy-Comfort and Hope!

Yesterday I shared with you a cards that I created over the weekend when my daughter and I had a little crafting time together and as promised, here is the cards she created! She used the Stampin’ Blends to color the poppies! I will do my best to give you correct measurements as I forgot to measure them before she took the card home. LOL

Begin with a 5 ½ x11” piece of Poppy Parade cardstock. In landscape position, (aka the long side), score at 4 ¼”. Fold and burnish. This will create a card base.
Cut a 4 x 5¼’ piece of Basic Black cardstock and attach it to the card base.
Cut a 3¼ x 3¾” piece of Basic White cardstock and randomly stamp the poppy flowers and the single leaf in Memento Black ink.
Use the Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers to color the flowers in Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzelberry and Poppy Parade. Color the leaves with Old Olive.
Attach this colored panel to the black panel on the card front.
Next cut a 1-3/8 x 3 ¾” of Basic White cardstock and stamp the greeting from Comfort and Hope in Memento Black and attach to the card front leaving a gap of black as pictured in above image.

With Sympathy and Painted Poppies!

I love that our Painted Poppies set is carrying over into the next annual catalog because it is such a sweet set and I love using the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers to bring out the colors! This set is great for any occasion, even the more solemn ones.

Begin with a Highland Heather card base that measures 5½ x 8½. In landscape position, (aka the long side) score at 4¼. Fold and burnish. This will create a card base.
Cut a 4 x 5 ¼” panel from Basic Black and attach it to the card front.
Next cut a 3 ¾ x 5” piece of Basic White and stamp the garden of poppies from the Painted Poppy set across the bottom. Color the poppies with some Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers. I used Highland Heather, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Dark Balmy Blue.
Stamp the big poppy on a piece of Basic White scrap and color it with the light and dark Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends. Fussy cut it out with some paper snips and add it to the poppy garden with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
Stamp the “With Sympathy” greeting from Vine Designs in Memento Black ink.
For the inside, cut a 4 x 5 ¼” piece of Basic White cardstock and stamp the greeting from Peaceful Moments in Memento Black ink. Add the other large poppy from Painted Poppies and color with the Highland Heather combo pack of Stampin’ Blends.

Although I needed a sympathy card, this would make a great Easter card as well. The multi-colored poppies really bring out a bit of Spring!
