Be Merciful-Sunday Wisdom

Today’s gospel is challenging and calls us to evaluate how well we love others. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” Jesus provides us with some valuable food for thought.

Do you judge others?
Judging others can be easy and sometimes just slips into our thoughts.  How many times have we thought the cashier at the store was not very friendly or make a judgment when we smile at a stranger and they do not smile back. Or do we form an opinion or make a judgment on someone based on where they live, where they work or where they go to school….. even before we meet them?

Do you condemn others?
We have great freedom and with freedom comes responsibility. Just because someone is guilty of an offense does not give us the right to condemn. There go I but for the grace of God. Thank you Jesus for your endless mercy and compassion.

Do you forgive others?
The real challenge is how we love those who oppose us, betray us or just see the world differently from us. Forgiveness does not mean that you accept the offense or that the offense never happened. Quite the opposite, forgiveness sees a sin for what it is, forgives and moves on.  This is what Jesus does for us, unconditional love, mercy and forgiveness for all of our mistakes, big and small.  Forgiveness sets the victim free.  Forgiveness does not judge.  Remember the example Jesus gave us from the cross with his unilateral forgiveness.  “Father forgive them, for they know now what they do.”

The grace of God is for everyone, so we need to pray and by placing our needs, our struggles, and our fears before the Lord we are admitting that we cannot go it alone and we accept that we need God’s mercy to love as he did.

The Lord is indeed kind and merciful.  Let us strive to imitate Him.

Birthday Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s February Blog Hop! This is a great time of year to build your stash of handmade birthday cards, so we are sharing birthday-themed projects with you today. We are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My cards for this month’s blog hop feature the Artistically Inked Bundle in the 2021-2022 annual catalog. I had so much fun creating with this bundle, I couldn’t stop myself, so today, I am sharing all three cards with you.

I wanted to create a birthday card using the Gold and Rose Metallic Specialty Paper. You will find this hidden gem on page 135 in the 2021-2022 annual catalog.

Card #1

Begin with a Very Vanilla card base. Add a 4-1/8 x 5- 3/8″ piece of Basic Black cardstock to the card front and a 4 x 5¼ piece of Gold Metallic CS. I used the Stamparatus to add the greeting in Memento Black Ink to a 3¼ x 4½ piece of Very Vanilla CS. The flower is stamped in one of our new In-colors, Polished Pink. I cropped the leaves and the center of the flower from the Gold Metallic CS.

For my second card I used the left over Gold Metallic CS to crop the leaves and create a strip across the middle of the card front.

Card #2

I stamped and cropped two flowers in Very Vanilla CS and layered them together with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The bottom section of the card front was created by stamping the marble stamp image and Polished Pink ink on Very Vanilla CS.

My final card is simply stamping. I began with a Gorgeous Grape card based and stamped a variety of floral images at the top and bottom of a Basic White card panel in Gorgeous Grape Ink, Fresh Freesia, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight inks. I added the Happy Birthday greeting from Sweet Ice Cream in Memento Black Ink.

Card #3

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Sue Jackson at Just Peachy Stamping. There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!

God’s Abundant Love-Sunday Wisdom

In today’s readings, we are reminded of God’s abundant love for us and that Jesus will never abandon us. By offering us the beatitudes Jesus envisions our everyday life transformed into something new. He challenges us to care for the poor and be aware of injustice. He wants us to think about his promise of love to us and how we can extend that same love and mercy to our neighbors. He wants us to step out of our complacency and change the world.

This is a life of hope where our rewards will be great in heaven. But, we cannot do it alone. We cannot rely only on our human strength, we need the Holy Spirit so we will have the courage to move forward in holy boldness. We have to first strengthen our relationship with Jesus and then we will be filled and able to extend unconditional love and generosity to others.

So today, read through the eight Beatitudes and focus on how Jesus is teaching all of us the virtues and values in life that will result in blessings and rewards.

Simply Flowing Flowers

Hello my stamping friends, I am back today with another Favorite Things Friday featuring a clean and simple card using the new Flowing Flowers stamp set in the January – June 2022 mini catalog. This set is quickly becoming one of my favorites in the new catalog.

I love how simple and elegant these flowers look, especially when you stamp them in a variety of colors.

My card today begins with a Basic White card base and I used Melon Mambo, Highland Heather and Old Olive inks. The light gray highlight around the card is just so you can see the image more clearly. Although it would also look good backed with Smoky Slate CS-who knew?

The greeting is stamped with Memento Black ink and punched with the Label Me Lovely punch., which I layered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also add a few pearls that were in my stamping stash!

Thanks for stopping by!

Plentiful Plants-Happy Birthday

Today’s card was created for my daughter’s roommate, who absolutely loves plants. This is a perfect card for anyone who has a green thumb! I love plants and a well groomed yard, but I am just not good at growing things, so these plants are perfect for me.

I began with a Crumb Cake card base and added a layer of Cajun Craze that I dry embossed with the Brick and Mortar embossing folder. I stamped a few of the pots with Cajun Craze ink and a few with Shaded Spruce. I decided to add a mixture of stamped greenery and Designer Series paper images.

I used Very Vanilla for the hanging pot and added Happy Birthday in Memento Black. This is a really great bundle and while it looks really involved it did not take long to put together. You can choose your plants to be all designer series paper, all stamped images or a combo as I did in the image above. Either way, I am sure your green thumb friends will love it.

Project Supplies and Measurements

  • Crumb Cake CS- 5½ x 8½ (card base)
  • Cajun Craze CS-2 x 5½
  • Basic White CS-5½ 8½ (for planters)
  • Very Vanilla CS-1½ x 3
  • Shaded Spruce CS- 1 x 3
  • Bloom Where You’re Planted Designer Series Paper
  • Plentiful Plants Bundle
  • Cajun Craze Ink
  • Shaded Spruce Ink
  • Memento Black Ink
  • Stampin’ Cut n Emboss Machine
  • Brick and Mortar Embossing Folder
  • Stampin’ Seal Adhesive or Liquid Glue

My daughter and her roommate live in Chicago and they just got hit with a ton of snow, so I am hoping this fun card filled with lots of summery greenery will be a ray of sunshine for both of them.

Thanks for stopping by!
