A Birthday Rose-Cottage Rose

I decided to create another card using two of the flowers from yesterday’s watercolor pencil Make It Monday tutorial. CLICK HERE if you missed that video. I combined the larger rose and the smaller flower to create a birthday bouquet. The happy birthday greeting is from the same bundle and I used our Paper Snips to create a banner look.

I added a panel of our Gorgeous Grape cardstock to my card front and to compliment the flowers. The leaves were highlighted with Granny Apple Green and Old Olive watercolor pencils.

Watercolor Pencil Blending Techniques-Make It Monday #74

Today, I am excited to share some blending techniques for using your watercolor pencils to create some beautiful floral images. I am using the new bundle in the 2022-2023 catalog, Cottage Rose. The floral images in this bundle really come to life when you blend four watercolor pencils together to create a soft, yet vibrant flower.

#blessedbycards Cottage Rose Card #1

Create something beautiful with Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils. I used Calypso Coral, Cherry Cobbler, Real Red and Pumpkin Pie for card #1.

#blessedbycards Cottage Rose Card #2

Watercolor pencil for card #2 Bermuda Bay, Night of Navy, Balmy Blue and Pacific Point. The third color palette in the video was created with Flirty Flamingo, Gorgeous Grape, Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo. Which color is your favorite.

Join me next week for another Make it Monday tutorial!

Sending Birthday Wishes

Today’s card features the Sending Smiles Bundle from the 2022-2023 annual catalog. I created my background using some watercolor paper, water painters, Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight ink.

#blessedbycards

Project Measurements

  • Bermuda Bay CS- 5½ x 8½, (card base)
  • Watercolor Paper-  3¾ x 5
  • Basic Black CS- 4 x 5¼
  • Basic White CS- 4 x 5 ¼
  • Memento Black Ink
  • Sending Smiles Bundle
  • Stamparatus
  • Bermuda Bay Ink
  • Daffodil Delight Ink
  • Water Painters
  • Stampin’ Seal Adhesive/Liquid Glue

Because I used watercolor paper, I made sure to use the Stamparatus to add the greeting in Memento Black ink, as I had to re-ink several times and the Stamparatus is the perfect positioning tool to create a crisp image.

Until next time, be blessed, Renae

Take Me Back Tuesday!

Yesterday I was cleaning up my craft room and going through some old cards in preparation for an October craft fair event and I came across several cards that I created using the sponging technique to create skylines. I can even remember the name of this stamp set and dies but I know it was at least 4 years ago.

If I had to guess on what colors I used, I would say Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry and Pumpkin Pie. So go ahead and pull out your sponges and/or blending brushes and give this sunset a try.

It just reminded me of a peaceful summer day. It always feels like the end of summer once we celebrate Labor Day, so I thought I would share this card as a perfect way to end summer. Now if only the weather would stop being so humid, that would be grand!

Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time, be blessed, Renae
