I think most Christians would agree that today’s gospel is a familiar one and yet it is so powerful.

Did you know today’s reading is the only miracle recorded in all four gospels? The narratives might be a bit different but they all ultimately recorded the same miracle. I think one of the important underlying messages is to that we don’t need to go away. When things become difficult, we too can stay. We too, can remain faithful. We don’t have to wait until we have it all figured out or until our life is neatly in order to run to Jesus because He is always waiting.

I think it is important to note that Jesus was filled with grief with the news of the death of John the Baptist and He while he just wanted to go away and be alone, He didn’t. He stayed and perhaps He even found comfort in doing what He was born to do.  

In this way, Jesus honored John the Baptist. Moved with pity Jesus remained in the present moment curing the sick and then feeding the crowd. He acted with compassion and offered hospitality to the crowd seeking Him. He will do the same for us. Oh I know the devil wants us to doubt, but we need to resist those lies and just stay.

Jesus did not abandon the crowd and He will never abandon us. He is never too busy to listen, all we have to do is turn to Him in trustful prayer and continue His legacy by caring for one another.

Weekly Wednesday #106 Festive Cheer

Welcome back. I am here today with three more Festive Cheer cards to help you get inspired for the holidays. Here in St. Louis the heat index has been btw 103 and 110. Today we are supposed to get a break, but I don’t think it will be holiday weather. Not to worry because if you are like me, anytime is a great time for holiday crafting. If not, you may need to watch a Christmas movie to get you in the mood. LOL If you missed my Monday post, click here for more holiday fun with Festive Cheer.

I am again featuring the new stamp set Festive Cheer. I love this little ornaments. You will also have a ton of fun using the dies. For some unknown reason, I failed to take my own advice and save 10% on the bundle. I just ordered the stamps. DUH! The ornaments are easy to fussy cut, but if that is not your jam, the order the bundle. There are a few extra goodies in the bundle that you are going to love. Check it out.

Make It Monday #267 Festive Cheer Bundle

Happy Monday all. This week I am excited to share a few Christmas in July cards using the new Festive Cheer Bundle. At first, I thought, I don’t need another ornament bundle, but wait until you see how cute this set is and how crisp the words stamp. Weekly Wed. #105 Faux Wood Carving Technique

Happy Wednesday everyone. A few months ago I featured the Faux Wood Carving Technique at a stamp camp and one on my beloved stampers has reached out with a request to create a video technique. Today is that day, Mary, this one is for you. Enjoy! I hope you create an abundant of beautiful cards.

Faux Wood Carving Technique

Step #1

Begin with a 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 piece of Basic White or Very Vanilla cardstock. Using a scoring tool, score along the 3-1/2 inch side at every 1/2″. Sorry my scanned image is so grainy and difficult to see, but you get the idea. Just be sure to score every 1/2″ with the cardstock in portrait postion.

Step #2

Drag a light colored ink pad over the scored cardstock using a light touch. Depending on how juicy your ink pad is and what side of the scored image you choose, will determine the outcome. The ink was applied on the debossed side of the cardstock in the image on the left and the embossed (raised) side in the image on the right. See video for details.

Step #3

Next choose an embossing folder, I am using the Sunflower3-D Embossing Folder. How you position your cardstock in the embossing folder will determine whether the raised image in on the inked side or not. See video for details.

Step #4

Next choose a darker ink to add color by again dragging the ink pad along the embossed or debossed image. I am using Early Espresso for my sample.

Step #5

If you so choose, add a bit more color to your project. Use the same dragging technique. See video for details. I have chosen Lost Lagoon for my sample, but Cloud Cover is also a great choice depending on how muted you want your end color to look.

Step #6

Finally assemble your card and add a greeting.

Project Measurement and Supplies:

  • Cloud Cover card base: 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 scored in half at 4-1/4, 1-1/4 x 3-3/4
  • Early Espresso cardstock layer: 4 x 5 1/4
  • Basic White cardstock layer: 3-5/8 x 4-7/8, 4x 5-1/4 (inside), 1-1/4 x 2-1/2 (greeting)
  • Early Expresso Ink
  • Cloud Cover Ink
  • Crumb Cake Ink
  • Stylish Shapes banners
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
