Lifetime of Love Make It Monday #176

Happy Monday. Although it is almost fall, here in St. Louis the weather has been quite warm. The next few weeks are supposed to be in the 90’s which is not really typical for September. Oh, I am not complaining but I do hope we get some good fall weather in October.

I do have to wonder about all the young couples who are planning to get married this month. Chances are when they chose a September date they were not planning on summertime weather. While the weather might not be perfect for a wedding, today, I do have some pretty great wedding/anniversary and or birthday cards for you to create.

Here is a Closer Look at today’s cards!

For today’s cards I used the Lifetime of Love stamp set and coordinating dies, which is featured in the 2024-2025 annual catalog. I hope you enjoyed today’s Make It Monday. Be sure to stop back on Wednesday for our Weekly Wednesday video series. Happy Stamping!

Sophisticated Sled- Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know that over 9.5 million Americans ice skate? Shocking right?  Apparently over the past ten years skating has not been a popular, but since the pandemic is making a comeback.

The first ice skating competition was put on in 1892 by the International Skating Union (ISU), not my alma mater, Illinois State University, LOL.  That event was open to all amateur skaters. The first figure skating event was at the Summer Olympic Games in 1908 and since 1924 has been part of the Winter Olympic Games.  Interesting, right?

Today’s cards were created by one of the designers at Stampin’ Up! and features the online exclusive stamp bundle Sophisticated Sled and the Winter Meadows 12 x 12 Designer Series paper pack.

Rip & Flip Technique~Weekly Wed. #29

Hey all I am back with another Weekly Wednesday video. Since last month was the big paper sale, I thought I would share a technique for you to use with your new paper stash. This technique really is a quick and easy way to create a variety of cards in five minutes. Check out the video below. I promise, it is short and simple!

A Closer look…

Now here is a closer look at the Perennial Lavender paper pack that I used to create this card. The only trick to this technique is to be sure that you have coordinating colors on both sides of your paper. Stampin’ Up! does an amazing job at providing that for us. If for some reason you want to use two different sheets, no problem, just be sure to cut them to be 4 x 6 before you rip and then have fun mixing and matching.

Today’s Card, Supplies, and Measurements:

Gorgeous Grape CS- 5-1/2 x 8-1/2
Gorgeous Grape Ink
Basic White CS-3 x 3
Perennial Lavender DSP- 4 x 6 -rip and flip
Deckled Circle Dies
Stampin’ Cut n Emboss Machine
Adhesive-my fav is our Liquid Glue
Stampin’ Dimensionals

Love, Love, Love this paper. Again, just be sure to cut your designer series paper a 4 x 6 so you have some wiggle room and then the two pieces will easily overlap making it easier for you to assemble. If you choose a one way pattern design like the image above, be sure to position the paper in your cutter so your pattern will not be upside down. Happy Stamping!

Blending Brush Color Technique

Today’s card is all about using the Blending Brushes to create a soft background of color. While my colors are actually quite bright and bold, Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Green, you can use the blending brushes to soften to color. It is amazing how elegant this card turned out. Just remember the key for creating a beautiful soft background is really all about a light touch.

I began with a 3-3/4 x 5 piece of Basic White cardstock and used my blending brushes along with some Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Green ink to create my background of color. I find a good trick when using the blending brushes is to start off my cardstock and use a light touch. You can always add more color, but you can’t take it away. If you are new to blending I suggest practicing a few times so that you can get the right feel for what is too dark.

My card is Poppy Parade and my accent layer is Granny Apple Green. I just layered these two colors and added a small strip of cardstock across the width of my white panel and added the greeting.

I stamped the large floral from Layers of Beauty on my newly created background using Memento Black ink. The Happy Anniversary greeting is from Layering Beauty and is also stamped with Memento Black ink. I used one of the dies from the Unbounded Love Bundle with my Stampin’ Cut n Emboss machine to crop the greeting. Add a little bling to match the colors of your card and that is it.

I hope you have fun experimenting with the Blending Brushes to create some fun backgrounds for your next card creation. Happy Stamping!
