Coneflowers are very popular in the Midwest because they are native to prairies and open woods. Now I for one do not have a green thumb, but because coneflowers love full sun, they are pretty easy to take care of and they are drought resistant. So if you are like me and forget to water them, they will probably still survive.

Today, I am using featuring cards that I created using the Coneflower Celebrations bundle. No water needed, but a little bit of liquid glue will go along way in creating the tiles for our backgrounds.

A Closer Look

I love that the coneflower stamp is so big. I am sure it would make a great background for a scrapbooking page. I love the look of the Lemon Lolly with the Azure Afternoon. Have fun playing around with different color combos! Happy Stamping!

Martha and Mary ~ Sunday Wisdom

Today’s gospel reading is a popular one and some may say that Martha gets a bad rap just because she is trying to be hospitable. I believe the reading today are to remind us of two things. First, it is important to keep a healthy balance between doing or service and being or contemplative prayer. The old saying you can’t give what you don’t have is so true. This is precisely why Jesus would wonder off and be found in quite prayer to his heavenly father. He was recharging!

Second, it is important to offer our service and hospitality if you will, with love. It is not that Jesus did not appreciate what Martha was doing, and he certainly did not think that Mary was better than Martha, but let’s face it, Martha was grumbling. Instead of going about her duties with great love, she was concerned that Mary was not helping her. Perhaps because of her lack of contemplative prayer balance, she was feeling sorry for herself and feeling over worked.  We’ve all been there. When we don’t take time to meet our Lord in quite prayer, we can turn inward and begin feeling unappreciated for all the things we do. 

So, the next time you feel agitated, overwhelmed, or even unappreciated, turn to your heavenly Father. He has all you need to fill up so you can of yourself in service to others.

Summer Sunflowers ~ Five Minute Friday

Wow, the new Sunflower 3-D Embossing folder is sure to make a great impression with your handmade crafts. This large embossing folders has gorgeous details. It features a stunning sunflower design that will add a touch of nature to any paper crafting project. Today I created a card using the reverse image of the emboss. So instead of using the raised image, flip it over and add some color.

I created my color by swiping the Misty Moonlight ink pad across the debossed image and wow, it is gorgeous. The card base is Misty Moonlight and the thinking of you is from Simply Said. I added color to the edges of the tag by dragging it in the ink pad as well.

I plan to create a few more cards using this technique and will feature it in a future Make It Monday video. Fingers crossed I will have those cards completed and ready for the July 28th Make it Monday video. Be sure to stop back!

Blackberry Bliss Ink
Stylish Circle 1-3/4″ circle
Stampin’ Cut n Emboss Machine

I know there is some fussy cutting on this card, but the drink glasses are super easy. Stampin’ Up! paper snips will make the job easier, but hurry because they have announced the supplier is going out of business, so paper snips are available while supplies last. Happy Monday everyone. While it may be too hot for the flowers to be in bloom in your neighborhood, we can always count on Stampin’ Up! for amazing flower designer series paper. The Florals In Bloom paper pack does not disappoint. It is colorful and makes me think of a sunny spring day. So I thought why not do a 6 x 6 One Sheet Wonder (OSW). This is a 12 x 12 paper pack so you will need to cut the paper of your choice down just a bit. The good news is that you get four- 6×6 pieces out of one sheet.
